Affinity Water Sustainability Reduction Programme Success

1 Jul 2019

Enisca have recently successfully completed works on the Bovingdon to Boxted scheme for Affinity Water. This project delivered under Enisca’s AMP6 Framework represented a significant investment by Affinity Water under their Sustainability Reduction Programme.

Works included modifications at Heronsgate No.3 Reservoir and Bovingdon Reservoir pumping stations, to increase the flow of water from Heronsgate to Bovingdon. As Principal Contractor Enisca’s responsibilities included the design, installation, testing and commissioning of all Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Control and Automation engineering works necessary for the successful completion of the new booster pumping station upgrades at each site.

Working collaboratively with Affinity Water Enisca’s design team were able to develop and present an innovative “off-line” build solution at both sites that minimised shutdown periods and disruption to customers supply.

These substantial pump stations included:

• New duty/standby pump sets 560KW (Heronsgate), 220KW (Boxted) & 110KW (Cholesbury)

• New MCC, VSDs, and PLC control.

• Surge suppression equipment at both sites (2 x 26m3 Bovingdon & 2 x 25m3 Heronsgate surge vessels) and related compressors, controls and instrumentation.

• Access walkways, stairways and lifting equipment

• Security rated modular steel pump station buildings

• New HV substations (800KVA)
