General Manager - Enisca Browne

Reports to: Managing Director – J Browne Construction Ltd and Managing Director – Enisca Limited

Liaising with: Operations, Commercial, Client, Sub-contractors, Safety, Head Office Support Functions

Location: Tonbridge and South East of England (South East Water region, Thames Water region and Southern Water region)

The Company

Enisca Browne are a fully integrated civil MEICA design and delivery service providing innovative, sustainable and quality solutions to the water industry. We have a history of engineering excellence. Our services include civil, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation, design and manufacture of Control Panels, MCC’s, PLC’s, SCADA and automation systems.

We have a very healthy forward orderbook with projects across the group through to 2025. This is a growth period for Enisca Browne and we are looking for motivated people to join our business as it grows. It is an exciting time to join our team.

We have an immediate requirement to appoint a General Manager to work as part of multi-disciplinary projects in the South East non-infrastructure industry.

The Role

The General Manager will have overall responsibility for the performance of the business, managing a senior team consisting of a Commercial Lead, Operational Leads, Head of Safety; with Finance, HR, IT, Fleet and Buying supported centrally.

The General Manager will need to operate and communicate at Board level and maintain the strong relationship with our Client’s senior team and supply chain.

The General Manager will maximise profit and sustainable growth in line with the strategic direction for the company and contribute to the continuing development of Enisca Browne as a whole.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Reporting to the Board of Directors when required, on all operational matters in relation to Enisca Browne’s performance and progress in the South East.

2. To lead on all aspects of the Enisca Browne’s work, providing strategic, professional advice and guidance to the Operational Managers and the wider Enisca Browne Delivery Team.

3. To build on Enisca Browne’s effective partnering culture with our clients ensuring collaborative working.

4. Working with the Operational Managers to develop a programme of work that is achievable and that meets the client’s requirements.

5. Overseeing the delivery of the programme of work to ensure milestones, deadlines and client obligations are met.

6. Proactively managing and developing client relations, issues and expectations at all stages in the project.

7. Commercial and financial performance of Enisca Browne.

8. Liaising with the Commercial Director and Commercial Manager to plan and forecast value of programme of works and expenditure.

9. Working in conjunction with the Safety Manager and Operational Managers’ to conduct regular audits and inspections to monitor the quality of work carried out on site to ensure that it meets the client’s specifications and Enisca Brownes’s Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety standards.

10. Identifying and developing opportunities for the continuous improvement of the company’s staff, SHEQ and management systems, including a review at the end of each project and implementing any necessary improvements.

11. Prepare monthly progress, financial and business development reports for the Board and Clients.

12. Adhering to and ensuring the adherence of the wider Enisca Browne business to to all Enisca Browne’s HR and H,S,W,E&Q policies and business management procedures.

13. Working with other members of the Senior Management Team to enable the company to achieve its strategic and operational targets in line with the corporate values.

14. As an ambassador of the company, professionally represent Enisca Browne and its values both internally and externally at all times.

Undertake any other such duties considered to be commensurate with the experience of the post holder and the requirements of the post.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Substantial experience in operational management and successful delivery of Water and Wastewater Design & Construct programmes of work
  • Excellent project, planning, budget, change and time management capabilities
  • MEICA construction site management
  • Experience of the practiced administration of the NEC suite of contracts
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations
  • CSCS
  • Clean Water Card
  • Electrical and Mechanical project management experience
  • SMSTS / SSSTS or equivalent site management qualification essential
  • People leadership and management skills
  • Sound knowledge of Health and Safety and its practical implications
