Tendering Engineer

Job Purpose

To assist and support the Bid Manager with the identification of tendering opportunities and the preparation of tender submissions that meet client specifications.

Key Duties

1. Receiving and reviewing tender documents

2. Analysing drawings and other documentation to identify the scope of work, conditions of contract and resources required

3. Preparing activity schedules including time, material and labour variables and costs

4. Liaising with clients to clarify their requirements and handling post tender enquiries

5. Identifying appropriate suppliers and subcontractors from the company’s supplier database or the client’s preferred supplier list and negotiating with them to achieve competitive quotations and to secure pre-bid agreements

6. Generating enquiries that accurately reflect the client’s requirements and issuing to identified suppliers and subcontractors

7. Receiving and reviewing suppliers and subcontractors’ quotations to ensure they comply with client’s specification

8. Populating the activity schedule with the relevant prices from selected suppliers and subcontractors

9. Assessing M&E labour, management and supervision allowances and updating activity schedule accordingly

10. Carrying out compliance check to ensure tender submission meets client’s specification

11. Presenting a completed activity schedule to the Bid Manager for review

12. Bid follow up and tracking after tender submission

13. Liaising with colleagues involved in the Contracts Division to ensure smooth transition to project delivery

14. Providing information required for completion of the Tender Status report

15. Working effectively as part of the tendering team

16. Carrying out as required site visits to locations throughout the UK and Ireland

17. Adhere to all Enisca’s HR and H&S policies and procedures.

18. Undertake any other such duties considered to be commensurate with the experience of the post holder and the requirements of the post


Person Specification:

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in tendering and estimating for projects
  • Mechanical and/or electrical technical knowledge including the ability to read and understand CAD drawings
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages especially Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to analyse clients’ requirements and interpret drawings accurately
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Willingness to travel as required
  • Ability to work on own initiative, as part of a team and also independently

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience in the design and construction of M&E services for the water industry
  • Commercial awareness
  • Influencing and negotiating skills
