PLC Programmer

Job Purpose:

Programming automation and control systems which involve programmable logic controllers.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Programming PLC systems using Siemens, Mitsubishi and Allen Bradley PLC and HMI systems.

2. Implementation of automation projects through full life cycle.

3. Provide technical leadership and hands-on proficiency in the resolution of software and controls systems issues.

4. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers.

5. Working closely with customers, providing advice, guidance, and support.

6. Experience with fault finding on PLCs

7. Keeping up to date with technological advances and new products

8. Develop personal skills and capability through on-going training, as provided by the company or elsewhere subject to company approval

9. Undertake any other such duties considered to be commensurate with the experience of the post holder and the requirements of the post.

10. Undertake travel to and from customer sites across NI, this may involve occasional travel also to ROI and England.


Qualifications & Experience

  • A relevant degree or technical apprenticeship that provides a solid foundation in the principals of Electrical or Control Systems Engineering OR equivalent experience.
  • Programming of SCADA, HMI’s and PLCs
  • Experience and training of Mitsubishi, Omron and Siemens SCADA, HMI and PLC’s highly desirable.
  • Driving licence is essential

Desirable Experience

  • Understanding and experience of implementing Industrial Network Protocols such as Ethernet, ControlNet, Profibus, Profinet and Modbus
  • Process experience in Clean and Waste Water treatment
  • Electrical Control System Design.
